Running for Ronit
My Dear Friends,
Who or what is Ronit? And why am I running for it?
Let me start at the beginning. If you've ever read any of my blog posts, you know that I am a passionate man with an abundance of energy. I direct my passions to my family, to creating and to helping the world that surrounds me. I direct my energy to activities that promote health and physical fitness; and marathons are high on my list of ways I love to exercise.
This Friday, I will be running in the Tel Aviv Half-Marathon. One of the beauties of the marathon itself is the vistas that Israel offers, along the beach, along the thoroughfare, the beautiful sunshine and the sea air are invigorating
Training for a marathon is both a physical and mental exercise, and sometimes it's not even clear which one requires more training.
Often, marathons are coupled with charities - it's a double bonus - a charity benefits with supplementary funding for its organization, and I benefit because I get to expose my friends to needy organizations that they have yet to heard of.
Now....Let's go back to the original question....who or what is Ronit? Ronit Chayun is an amazing mother. She has a special needs daughter. In 2007 she turned her passion into creating a a center for social development of the special needs population throughout Israel. Her institution helps support and provide much needed assistance, for this under served population, to rehabilitate their social and communal activities.
So, this year, when I'm running, I will be pounding the pavement thinking about Ronit and the amazing strides she has taken.
And you my dear friends....I have a special offer for you!! Can you predict how long it will take me to finish the half-marathon this year? Those who get closest to the number, will be gifted a GEMSTONE & SILVER TENNIS BRACELET!! (in your choice of peridot, clear quartz, garnet and amethyst).
